Salaries Award update
The PSA was in the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) today regarding the application for a 2.5 per cent pay increase.
The State Government has applied to join 48 public sector Award applications together with the PSA Salaries case. The Government’s goal is a pay freeze for all public sector employees.
The Chief Commissioner joined the 23 Health Services Union Awards and the four Nurses Awards and the Australian Salaried Medical Officers Federation of NSW Awards to the 10 PSA Salaries Awards. This was despite the various unions’ objections.
The Police, the Australian Workers Union and the Australian Paramedics Association’s cases have not been joined to our case.
The PSA awards case was listed on 18 and 24 June. The 18 June hearing date has now been set aside for the Full bench to determine threshold question as to whether the Regulation provides for automatic salaries increase of 2.5 per cent for public servants.
The PSA’s proceedings, and the applications joined to its proceedings, will now be heard on 24 and 25 June before the Full Bench of the IRC.
The PSA is now preparing its evidence and material in reply to the Government’s evidence.
