Schools – WBS/IO – not mandatory

Schools – WBS/IO – not mandatory – September 2018 (PDF version)

Delegates and staff of the PSA met with the Department this week to detail member concerns regarding the workload caused by the WBS/IO part of the SAP HR Payroll.

As you are aware, the PSA was able to have the release of this system delayed to the remainder of schools until November, however, those schools that already have the system are experiencing numerous issues.

One of the major problems identified is the time taken with the WBS/IO requirements.

The PSA has asked that the WBS/IO codes be included in the timesheets rather than the separate program that is being used.

Our delegates advise this will substantially reduce the workload involved in allocating the correct WBS/IO codes to capture the hours worked for relief, excursions as well as professional development and other allocations.

In the meantime, the Department has advised that WBS/IO is not mandatory and we consequently advise members not to use this part of the system due to the additional workload it entails.

The PSA has also been discussing training for this system and are awaiting advice from the Department about a timeline and the improvements such as face-to-face training.

Thank you to all those who responded to our survey on this issue.

It was a big help to have the survey data in our discussions with the Department.

We will continue to fight to ensure that adequate training is given to staff who will need to use the system.

We will also fight to gain improvements in the system itself to reduce your workload.

The next meeting with the Department will be held on 24 September and the PSA will provide a further update to members following the meeting.
