Service First bulletin 19 December 2014 – amended 15 January 2015 (PDF)

Representatives from the PSA were called to an urgent meeting with Service First management on Wednesday 17 December to discuss the proposed outsourcing of Service First. The following is a brief update as to what was discussed at the meeting.

Announcement of Service First Outsourcing Program

  • The NSW Government has given in principle support to outsource Service First.
  • A final decision will be made by April 2015.
  • From now until April 2015 due diligence; contract negotiations and finalising the preferred delivery model will be undertaken.
  • We understand there are two preferred vendors: Unisys and Infosys.

Jobs impact

  • Approximately 200 permanent, 50 temp, 50 project/contract positions will be impacted.
  • Workplace Services are not included.
  • A staged implementation is planned through late 2015 with no impact on jobs until July 2015.
  • It is estimated that around 5% of current staff will move to the private provider with no forced transfers.
  • An employment package will be offered to employees including training, redeployment across the sector and in the private sector.
  • If unsuccessful in this process, employees will be managed in accordance with the Managing Excess Employees Policy.
  • A severance package will be offered to eligible temporary staff.

The PSA is meeting with Service First management on 28 January and will update members soon after.
