Representatives from the PSA were called to an urgent meeting with Service First management on Wednesday 17 December to discuss the proposed outsourcing of Service First. The following is a brief update as to what was discussed at the meeting.
Announcement of Service First Outsourcing Program
- The NSW Government has given in principle support to outsource Service First.
- A final decision will be made by April 2015.
- From now until April 2015 due diligence; contract negotiations and finalising the preferred delivery model will be undertaken.
- We understand there are two preferred vendors: Unisys and Infosys.
Jobs impact
- Approximately 200 permanent, 50 temp, 50 project/contract positions will be impacted.
- Workplace Services are not included.
- A staged implementation is planned through late 2015 with no impact on jobs until July 2015.
- It is estimated that around 5% of current staff will move to the private provider with no forced transfers.
- An employment package will be offered to employees including training, redeployment across the sector and in the private sector.
- If unsuccessful in this process, employees will be managed in accordance with the Managing Excess Employees Policy.
- A severance package will be offered to eligible temporary staff.
The PSA are seeking a meeting with Service First management in the new year to discuss the matter in further detail.
