ServiceFirst members take action
The fight to stop the Government’s plan to privatise ServiceFirst and outsource up to 240 of the 300 current staffing positions overseas continues as members take action.
Following strong media coverage, in mid March, a community run petition to support staff at ServiceFirst was handed to the Labor Party MPs in Parramatta by ServiceFirst staff and PSA General Secretary Anne Gardiner.

On 26 March, over 150 members from ServiceFirst walked off the job in Parramatta and at the McKell Building in Sydney to protest against the State Government’s plans to privatise and off shore their jobs.
In Parramatta, 100 ServiceFirst members were joined by 50 members from Community Services with another 50 ServiceFirst members taking a stand at the McKell Building.
Members in Parramatta marched through the streets to the office of Liberal MP Geoff Lee chanting slogans such as “ServiceFirst is not for sale, keep our jobs in NSW!”

Next Steps:
A Staff Briefing was held for all ServiceFirst staff on Monday 30 March.
There is also a PSA/management consultation meeting scheduled for 9 April.
The PSA will continue to engage with you, the members, through meetings and one on one conversations to determine our steps.
What you can do:
1. Thank non-members who turned up to last week’s lunchtime action; and
2. Encourage non-members to get involved and join our union;
3. Talk to people in your workplace and communities about the intention of the government to off-shore your jobs and why it is important we stop this;
4. Watch this space for details of our next member meetings.
