Sheriff’s Officers – Centralisation of Field Enforcement – November 2018 (PDF version)
You would have seen an Expression of Interest (‘EOI’) released by the Office of the Sheriff on 29 October 2018. The EOI is seeking grade1/2 Sheriff’s Officers for a three- to four-month role in the Sheriff’s Mobile Enforcement Team. It covers 14 locations across the Sydney and Greater Metropolitan regions and is a pilot study.
The PSA and its SOVBAG Delegates are concerned Sheriff’s Officers may only be performing Court Security should field enforcement be centralised. That is, if field enforcement becomes one big enforcement team that targets a specific Sheriff’s Office, for example Burwood, then moves onto another Sheriff’s Office. The Office of the Sheriff has not released a bulletin to allay those concerns to its employees. The PSA/SOVBAG is considering pursuing this with the Office of the Sheriff at the 6 December Joint Consultative Committee meeting.
