Special Constables Role Description review process

Special Constables Role Description review process - July 2019 (pdf version)

Since the publication of the last bulletin on the Special Constables Role Description review process in April (available HERE), the PSA has worked hard to try and reach an acceptable negotiated outcome with NSW Police.

Following the April meeting, the PSA required that NSW Police put their final considered arguments about changes to capabilities into a more extended written response, which was received on 10 May 2019.  Unfortunately, this written response reflected the disappointing undervaluing of the Special Constables role under the Capability Framework that had been communicated verbally at the April meeting.

Delegates and PSA staff went through this written response and put their own considered arguments into a final written submission back to NSW Police on 7 June 2019.

The PSA has had no response to date and a final reviewed Role Description has still not been published.

This process has dragged on long enough!

The PSA today wrote to NSW Police seeking that a final determination be made available within 7 days from today (by COB Monday 8 July).  If this timeframe is not met, the PSA will be escalating the dispute.
