State Emergency Service: your new Departmental Committee
Our newly elected State Emergency Service (NSW SES) Departmental Committee (DC) recently came together for their first training session as PSA delegates. They spent time learning about their important roles and responsibilities and also began developing plans to strengthen the voice of PSA members across NSW SES.
Following the training, the Committee held their first Annual General Meeting where the delegates elected their new executive:
- Chair Nicole Harding
- Vice-Chair David Cox
- Secretary Craig Ronan
- Assistant Secretary Joshua Stanbury
The DC discussed the issues and challenges facing members across the SES from the harassment of SES staff and staff safety to pay and conditions.
One of the DC’s first priorities will be to launch a new campaign to recognise and value the vital work of NSW SES salaried staff. The campaign is called Value Us Because We Value You. A strong call for respect, recognition and support from both the employer and the community.
Our members are committed to serving and supporting communities across NSW. It’s time their contribution is acknowledged and genuinely valued in return.
Stay tuned for more updates as the campaign gets underway!

Member Benefits
The delegates are eager to remind members and non-members of the benefits of being a PSA member.
The PSA represents our best interests in the workplace. We negotiate public servants pay and conditions, and supports members across all areas of employment, including:
- Negotiating pay and workplace conditions.
- Protecting your leave and other entitlements.
- Providing workplace advice and support.
- Promoting wellbeing and safety in the workplace.
PSA members can reduce their costs of living by accessing member only services and discounts, available HERE.
Additionally, PSA members employed by NSW SES are also eligible to join the Legal Fund, available HERE. The nature of your work means you have a much higher risk of requiring certain types of legal representation in the course of your employment. The legal fund will cover you for any criminal matters that may arise in the course of your employment. It will also mean you get representation for any coronial matter.
