Assault Submission - July 2020 (PDF version)

The PSA/POVB is putting in a submission in regards to the review of sentencing for offences involving assaults on correctional staff.

We are requesting that if any officer has been assaulted and charged the inmate externally with assault, could you send the following information to Amanda Cotter, Secretary POVB:

• Name
• Work Location
• Details of incident – i.e. injuries, did you take workers’ compensation
• Court result

It is imperative we get as much information from you for as this will assist our submission in highlighting the need for greater consistency in sentencing which reinforces that assaults to staff is not acceptable.

The submission needs to be in by Wednesday, 30 September 2020, so if you can send your information before Tuesday, 15 September 2020 it would be greatly appreciated.
