TAFE NSW: Disability Assistants conversion to permanency

TAFE NSW: Disability Assistants conversion to permanency

Did you know that TAFE Disability Assistants can be CPSU NSW members?

There have been a lot of changes recently in TAFE NSW with your new Enterprise Agreement. This includes the introduction of conversion for Disability Assistants (DAs) from casual to permanent employment for the first time.

It’s more important than ever to be a member of your union and that is why we are asking you to sign up today or, for those of you who are already a members, to speak with your DA colleagues about joining the CPSU NSW.

You can join easily online HERE.

CPSU NSW is there for all members

The CPSU NSW advocates for members of all employment types and will fight for secure, ongoing work for everyone.  We know that many DA staff in TAFE have been on temporary or casual contracts for some time and we are working on ways to assist you in converting to permanent employment.

What are we working on?

  • Conversion of all TAFE NSW Disability Assistants who want to be permanent employees.
  • An information and Q and A meeting with TAFE NSW about Disability Assistants and what it means to convert, and your rights and entitlements going forward.
  • Ensuring correct hours, leave, and entitlements are maintained in your new contract and offer of permanency.

Make sure your interests are represented and you have a say in how things progress for Disability Assistants by joining the CPSU NSW.

Easy things you can do to support your union

  • Assist the work of the CPSU NSW and delegates by asking your colleagues to JOIN.
  • Print this bulletin and pin it up on your staff noticeboard.
  • If colleagues you work with have not received this bulletin, forward this to them!

If you have any questions about this bulletin, please email: [email protected]

Your pay rise and Clarence Correctional Centre Advisory Group

Your pay rise and Clarence Correctional Centre Advisory Group

Your pay rise and back pay has finally hit your accounts.

This pay rise was hard fought by the delegates and your union. This was not a gift from Serco and it wouldn’t have happened without the pressure we placed on Serco during the bargaining. Delegates and industrial staff continued to pressure Serco for a pay rise that meant real growth for our members which would then help Serco retain and attract staff and at the last minute they came to the realise that what we were saying was true.

Clarence Correctional Centre Advisory Group

CPSU NSW is creating an Advisory Group at Clarence Correctional Centre with the rules aligning with the Prison Officer Vocational Branch (POVB) to future proof the site. This means that the Delegate position will only be available to full time staff. This group will meet regularly and will raise issues with Serco through the Delegates Consultative Committee (DCC) every two months with industrial staff and meet with Serco on the alternative month without industrial staff.

Shortly the PSA will be calling for Delegate nominations in the following areas.

Positions Delegates Required
Correctional Case Officers (1 from Initial Response Team) 4
Supervisor 1
Trade Instructors 1
Non-Custodial 1

If you would like to discuss the role further contact Regional Organiser Rebecca Reilly on 0419980503 or [email protected] or Mik Smart on 0429060499 or [email protected]

United we bargain, divided we beg!

Ausgrid – Update on Enterprise Agreement

Ausgrid – Update on Enterprise Agreement

The CPSU NSW and Ausgrid have been in EA negotiations since March 2024. The following is a summary of the Ausgrid offer presented to your union last week:

  • For the first year of the new EA, Ausgrid have proposed a 7% increase in pay. Following this, in years 2 and 3 of the EA, any increases would equal the consumer price index (CPI) and no more.
  • Regarding superannuation, Ausgrid have proposed a 0.5% increase in years 1 and 2 of the EA;
  • An update to Appendix 4 of the existing EA in order to incorporate revised progression rules, performance ratings and top of band bonus payment developed by the Peak Consultative Committee (PCC) during 2023;
  • The implementation of roster change with majority support by amending clause 18 of the current EA to enable the majority of a relevant work group to agree to a proposed roster change;
  • The possibility of Public Holiday Substitution in order to provide an employee the ability to swap a public holiday with another day later in the year, with sufficient notice to Ausgrid;
  • An enhanced on-call allowance

Members will be provided with further updates in due course. Any feedback or concerns on the above from members is welcome.
