Taronga Zoo vaccination directive - Public Service Association

Taronga Zoo vaccination directive

On Tuesday 27 September the PSA was contacted by members from Taronga advising of a Town Hall meeting, where management notified staff that they would be required to have been vaccinated by 18 October 2021. This is despite the fact there have been no health orders given.

This meeting was followed by an all-staff bulletin confirming Taronga’s position which states:

  • From Monday, 18th October 2021 or when advised by the NSW Government and NSW Health, to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19, we will require anyone accessing Taronga’s two sites as an employee, volunteer, tertiary education student or contractor, to be double vaccinated against COVID-19.

The PSA immediately contacted Taronga management requesting as a matter of urgency its risk assessments for both and outdoor areas be provided to Industrial Officer, Michael Sinclair, and that an urgent meeting be arranged between management and the PSA.

This meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday 5 October 2021 to get a clear understanding of Taronga’s requirements regarding vaccinations and their risk assessments

The PSA will provide an update to our members directly following the meeting.
