Temporary closure of Wellington Correctional Centre due to mouse plague - June 2021 (pdf version)

The PSA was advised that a meeting of all staff would take place yesterday at Wellington Correctional Centre to discuss urgent steps required in response to the mouse infestation.

The meeting included attendance by delegates from various sub-branches, as well as PSA Regional Organiser Belinda Pearce.

A range of interim measures will be implemented for alternative working arrangements for members, and for relocation of inmates, whilst the extent of the damage is assessed and the required rectification works are completed.

It is anticipated that this will result in a temporary closure of 4-5 months with the centre to reopen once the infestation has been managed and the rectification works completed.

The PSA recognises that these changes will impact different members in different ways and is hopeful that CSNSW will be able to accommodate everyone’s circumstances appropriately.

If you need any assistance with your individual circumstances not being adequately accommodated, please do not hesitate to contact your delegates or to contact the PSA Member Support Centre on 1300 772 679.
