On Friday 20 September 2024, the PSA and the Combined Transport Unions (CTU) met with Transport for NSW (TfNSW)to continue discussions on the TfNSW Award. This was meeting number 11. While there have been some concessions and movement on a number of CTU claims, TfNSW still maintain opposition to a number of claims.
While these conditions are still up for discussion, the PSA believes that they should not delay any further an immediate pay rise for members. If the discussions around conditions continue at the same rate, members may not see a pay increase for some time.
Some of the major claims for PSA members that are unresolved include:
- Flexible Working arrangements, including the right to work from remote locations
- Provisions to eliminate the forfeiture of flex hours, including increasing the allowable accrual of flex per cycle to 42 hours
- Inclusion of TSSM’s in the Award
- Staff Opal Cards on the same terms as Sydney Trains
- Improvement on disciplinary processes
- Pay equalisation across RMS and TfNSW/Metro Salary Groups including the addition of a Shift Work Clause to the TfNSW Award
- The inclusion of bereavement leave
- Overtime being paid at your grade
In order to gain relief from the current cost of living crisis, the PSA has made an application for immediate arbitration of the PSA’s salary claims, including in relation to the TfNSW Award. We will keep you up to date with the progress of this salary application.
This application has not stopped discussion around conditions, which will continue through the usual conciliation, and if necessary, arbitration process in the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC). The next report back in the IRC around the conditions is set for Friday 11 October 2024.
