Upper Hunter by-election

Upper Hunter - May 2021 (PDF version)

As you would be aware living in the electorate, there is a by-election for the seat of Upper Hunter on 22 May 2021. This follows the resignation of MP Michael Johnsen.

This by-election is important. Not only will it determine who your local representative is, it will also determine who holds the balance of power in the Lower House. For that reason, the PSA has registered as a third-party campaigner to highlight the cuts the National Party has made in the seat and to alert local voters to the risk to our membership if the party is re-elected. We were particularly concerned following the sale of Scone TAFE last month as to what other services this Government considers the people of the Upper Hunter not worthy of.

Employees and officials of your union will be in Scone on 11 May and Quirindi on Wednesday 12 May raising awareness of our members’ issues. If you see us in the local shopping centre, please feel free to come and say hello and introduce yourself. Alternatively, we will be in Scone RSL after 6:00pm on Tuesday evening if you want to have a chat.
