VGNSW – Proposed Reform IRC NSW Disputation

VGNSW has provided the PSA and staff with a final Change Management Plan on 28 September. Whilst some grades have now been spared the honour of being affected (in-part), there are still vast swathes of the VGNSW that would be required to re-apply for their roles.

The continued concern of the PSA membership relates to two separate but inter-related matters namely; the decisions to transfer Award coverage away from the Departmental Professional Officers Award to that of the Administration & Clerical Award and the lack of direct appointment activities.

The PSA maintains that there has been an unsatisfactory consideration of both elements. Just because VGNSW says that roles are sufficiently different does not make it so. As a consequence, there are levels of disdain amongst the membership as VGNSW attempts to revert to organizational structures that existed not more than 5 years prior.

The PSA has subsequently filed a dispute in the NSW Industrial Relations Commission. Part of that process will be seeking a status quo recommendation to stop further reform processes whilst the issues relating to Award coverage and direct appointment are heard before the Commission.

If VGNSW members have further questions they can contact the PSA Member Support Centre on 1300 772 679 or Industrial officer Shane Howes .
