We want to hear from you: PSA submission to the Broderick review into bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct in NSW Parliament

Elizabeth Broderick AO is currently undertaking an independent review of the culture, policies and practices in the Parliament of NSW, particularly with regard to the risk of bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct. Further detail can be found HERE.

The Terms of Reference for this review are linked HERE.

At the end of this bulletin is a survey being conducted by the PSA to inform our submission to Ms Broderick’s review. Your participation in this survey is not a replacement for engagement with the review directly, we encourage you to do that as well when the opportunities arise.

We’ll use this survey to collate the views of Parliamentary Staff in NSW Parliament about what they have witnessed and experienced during their time in Parliament when it comes to misconduct. This will include whether you feel properly protected from being subject to this risk and what changes you think would make you safer at work.

Your answers to this survey are de-identified and confidential. We may quote the words you use in the short answer questions in our evidence to this review, though we will not use any content that identifies you. Other than a few demographic questions at the beginning, no question is mandatory. However, any contribution you can make to this survey will be incredibly valuable.

If you have received this survey and are employed as a MOPS you should not fill out this survey as it is for Parliamentary Staff. If you are employed as a MOPS and want to contribute to the submission please email or contact the Member Support Centre.

We would like to note and acknowledge that this survey was modelled on the survey undertaken by your fellow MOPs Members, particularly Peta Waller-Bryant, and the PSA thanks them for their time and contributions in this regard.

Depending on the level of information you would like to contribute, the survey should take between 10-20 minutes to complete. All current Parliamentary Staff are welcome to participate, regardless of whether you’re a union member. As always we encourage you to join the PSA if you haven’t already to make your union stronger in NSW Parliament: psa.asn.au/join

This survey will be live until Tuesday 7 December, so your feedback is requested ASAP. Please forward this bulletin to your Parliamentary Staff colleagues and encourage them to provide their feedback.
