Welcome back for term 2: PSA Recognition Week and what the union is working on for you
24 April 2026
We hope you all had an enjoyable vacation period and are settling into week 1, term 2.
The union has been working hard over the break on issues of importance to members.
PSA Organisers are back out visiting schools to say hello and to organise your Term 2 meetings. Make sure you reach out to schedule a PSA meeting for everyone at your school so they can be updated on what the union is doing.
If you would like a PSA meeting in your school contact your PSA Organiser or email us at .
PSA Schools Recognition Week 2026 – 31 August to 4 September
This year the PSA goes green! The union will be launching a more accessible online resources pack to support your recognition week.
Put the dates in the diary and keep your eyes out for more information on how we will be reaching even more members this year.
What the PSA will be continuing work on this term
- Launching the PSA ‘Workload Watch’ highlighting the pressures felt by all classifications in schools and how you can be involved in campaigning to fix them.
- Following up on meetings with senior representatives from across the department during the vacation break to identify fixes around the use of external allied health providers which impact SLSOs and Admin staff on a daily basis.
- Advocating for better communication around the operation of cleaning contracts and the impact on GA roles, including through the PSA supported de-privatisation.
- Pushing to expand the eFPT Working Party to a Finance Working Party and working with the Chief People Officer on better delineation of the SAM and BM roles.
