A Compulsory Conference was called on urgently before the Industrial Relations Commission today, 17 March, 2014, at 4.00 p.m. in response to the work bans imposed by non-custodial staff in MSPC1.

Commissioner Newell, after hearing from the parties, made the following recommendations, summarised as follows:

1.		That the parties (represented at the most senior level), and the affected members’ representatives, meet urgently to consult on the matters in dispute.
2.		Commissioner Newell gave leave to the parties to re-list, at short notice, should these discussions break down, and also indicated that he would be available to convene a further conference of the parties to discuss any outstanding issues.
3.		Commissioner Newell also directed the PSA and its officers to convey to members that the bans should be lifted.

In accordance with these directions, the PSA recommends that these bans be lifted.
