Working from home and office: Update on Transport for NSW ‘Your Day. Your Way’ policy

Home and Office - June 2021 (PDF version)

Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has been engaging with the PSA in the implementation of ‘Your Day. Your Way’. The idea is to change the way TfNSW approaches flexibility in work locations and the structure of working hours.

TfNSW wants to encourage a partial return to the office, or what is being termed a “hybrid way of working”. The purpose is to assist with team-building and isolation.

We have heard concerns from members that managers may force them back into the office and/or they are currently being forced back into the office. This is not the intention of ‘Your Day. Your Way’.

TfNSW has made it clear to the PSA that managers are to discuss with the team the requirements in the short term and what your individual preferences are concerning returning to the office. Then a plan for the team is to be implemented. The manager should not be making an arbitrary determination. If there are differences between you and your manager about a return to the office the resolution process would be the grievance process.

The PSA expressed concern that directions to return to the office were in the pipeline. The PSA was assured at this stage TfNSW managers should not be seeking to direct employees to return to the office.
