Workplace Presence – Risk Assessment consultation open
As part of the Workplace Presence consultation process, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) committed to sharing and consulting on a related Risk Assessment. Yesterday you would have seen a message from TfNSW inviting you to review the Draft Workplace Presence Health and Safety Risk Assessment, and provide feedback on their workplace presence consultation page. You can view the consultation document HERE.
Feedback due by Friday 25 July
You can also provide feedback regarding the Risk Assessment to the PSA via the email address. The PSA reminds members that whilst consultation is ongoing regarding changes to the Transport Flexible Work Arrangements Procedure and Way We Work Guide, the status quo remains, and no immediate changes to working arrangements should occur whilst consultation is ongoing. TfNSW have indicated that consultation regarding the issue is likely to extend into September, when updates on the direction of the workplace presence proposal will be given.
Risk Assessment identifies that inconsistent application of the policy may increase risks
Whilst the Risk Assessment distributed is limited in its scope – to risks associated with changes proposed to the Flexible Work Arrangement Procedure, and not to all the risks with working from the office, or from home – it does state in a number of areas that inconsistent application of the procedure may result in risks being realised.
This further supports one of the key pieces of feedback the PSA has provided in relation to the policy; that the “standard” hybrid arrangement must be a true standard arrangement for workers, without the requirement of an individual manager to approve, or not approve, the 50 per cent arrangement over a period of a month. You can review the PSA’s feedback, provided in March 2025, regarding the proposal HERE.
