You are entitled to Flexible Working Hours and Flex days
PSA has received feedback from members and delegates that new Caseworkers currently undertaking Casework Development Program (CDP) are being directed to work Standard Hours, that is, starting at 9:00am and finishing at 5:00pm with a 1-hour lunch break and no access to Flex Time.
The granting of flex leave, as well as flexible start and finish times is not a favour, is not a reward, nor is it a gift. It is an entitlement and a condition of employment.
Whenever PSA officials visit Community Service Centres our members tell us how hard it is to leave the office earlier, start later or take a flex day, despite the fact the Award entitles you to do so. We’re particularly worried that new Caseworkers may not know of this entitlement at all.
PSA encourages members to check in with CDP Casweworkers and ask if they’ve been directed to work standard hours. If they are not already members, encourage them to sign up and send this information onto us via the Member Support Centre, your Workplace Delegate or emailing your PSA Organiser.
