Your Industrial Instruments

Being aware of and finding the various industrial instruments that govern your workplace rights and entitlements as School Psychologists can be confusing. To assist our members in this, we have compiled them below:

Update on PSA seeking a School Psychologists’ AWARD:

Instead of relying on the department to seek a temporary Determination from NSW Treasury, year after year, to determine your salary; the PSA seeks to establish a Crown Award made by the Industrial Relations Commission between the parties, the PSA and the NSW Department of Education, for School Psychologists.  An Award will provide certainty, improve your working conditions and guarantee your entitlements.

Despite PSA efforts pressing to commence Award negotiation/discussions since last year, the Department has stalled commencement, by not requesting the required bargaining parameters for Award negotiations from the NSW Wages Policy Task Force.  The PSA considers they have had time enough to do so.  PSA formal correspondence has notified the Department that we intend to continue preparations for a School Psychologists Award and to be provided with the DoE timeframe for commencing Award discussions. In reply the Department has advised they will seek parameters for our discussions from the Wages Policy Task Force for a 2022 industrial instrument in the coming months.  In the meantime, the PSA has commenced drafting an Award in collaboration with delegates and members. We look forward to engaging with you and hearing more about what matters in your workplace and your professional life as a School Psychologist.
