Your Christmas and New Year rights at work - Public Service Association

Your Christmas and New Year rights at work

You cannot be forced to take recreation leave if you have less than 30 days accrued. The choice to take leave is yours.

If you have less than 30 days recreation leave and prefer to work over the closedown period, you can seek approval to work from home or from a different location or office.

If you are experiencing difficulties in negotiating appropriate arrangements, please contact your workplace delegate or organiser for assistance.

You may be asked to take recreation leave if you have between 30 and 40 days accrued.

Departments have been instructed to direct you to take recreation leave if you have over 40 days.

Further details can be found in the Recreation Leave clause 77.2 of the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Reviewed Award 2009.
