Your Pay Rise: PSA in the Industrial Relations Commission for SAS Staff

Last week the PSA attended the NSW Industrial Relations Commission of NSW (IRC), along with the Department of Education (DoE), regarding the Crown Employees (School Administrative and Support Staff) Award.

Senior PSA staff from the Schools Team and Legal Unit, along with the union’s barrister, attended the IRC for a full day on Monday 5 September. The main focus of the hearing, before the full bench of the Commission, was to lock in your pay rise for 2022.

PSA staff attended the commission again on Friday 9 September. We are now waiting on the final decision of the commission.

We recommend you read more about the timeline of the dispute, the department’s position and the actions taken by the PSA to protect your pay increase which we outlined in our previous bulletin to members.

SAS Staff are the only group of employees who have not had their pay increase finalised by the NSW Government. DoE is also the only department that did not take steps to ensure that the increase would be paid from the first full pay period after 1 July 2022.

The PSA will advise members as soon as the IRC has handed down its decision.
