Births, Deaths and Marriages – Restructure
The Department issued a “Restructure Management Plan” on Tuesday 18 February and forwarded the document to the PSA on the same day. A PSA meeting of members at Regent St was convened for Friday 21 February, with another planned for the Parramatta office on Wednesday 26 February.
The restructure includes a loss of more than 15 per cent of the workforce. Unbelievably, consultation was set down to close on Friday 28 February, a mere nine working days after the restructure was announced.
Members at the Regent Street meeting were justifiably concerned, some asking that the PSA immediately lodge a dispute in the Industrial Relations Commission about the unreasonable timeframe.
The PSA recognises the difficulty we will have receiving considered comment and concerns from members and being able to collate those concerns for feedback to the Department before the end of consultation. A request has been made to the Department to extend the consultation period.
What should you do?
Email your concerns to with “Call 128138” in the Subject field. A document with members’ collated concerns will be forwarded to Management.
The PSA is YOUR UNION and will continue to fight for your rights and entitlements at work. Workers are “STRONGER TOGETHER” so talk to your colleagues and suggest that they become PSA members too.
