Department of Customer Service – Digital ICT – Spatial Services – meeting with Minister Dib
PSA A/General Secretary Troy Wright along with industrial staff and local delegate Adam Day met with Minister Dib this week to discuss the Spatial Services Restructure.
It was acknowledged that Spatial Services had been funded previously by Land Titles. As the previous government sold Land Titles there is no revenue available for Spatial Services from that source.
PSA argued that current executive had not managed the budget effectively but were rewarded with retaining their jobs while those on lower levels were facing job losses.
PSA also raised questions about the spatial services area in the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure which appears to have unfilled vacancies. Minister Dib agreed to look into this further.
It was acknowledged that losing jobs in regional areas was less than ideal. The Minister has discussed concerns with the Secretary of the Department of Customer Service and wants to ensure that everything that can be done to keep people in jobs is being done. He also committed to looking into why Grade 11s are being regraded to 11/12 and agreed that didn’t make budgetary sense.
While implementation is due to occur, PSA is continuing to advocate for and represent members.
