AM talkback radio stopped the greyhound ban. Can it help the PSA do the same and halt the absurd Land Titles sell-off?

On Sydney radio station 2GB, Opposition Leader Luke Foley talked to Ray Hadley about the risk to what he described as “the best system in the world”, the LPI Land Titles service.

The service, which is slated for privatisation by Premier Gladys Berejiklian, earned the state $130 million last year, while giving land owners throughout NSW piece of mind over the security of their titles.

Speaking to Hadley, the Opposition Leader described the proposed 35-lease as a “dash for cash” that makes little economic sense.

Hadley also warned home owners will be slugged for at least $4000 a year in title insurance, far more than under the present system.

The Labor Party leader also pointed there is not guarantee the 400 current government jobs in the office will remain in NSW, or even in Australia.

Foley praised the “detailed work” of expert LPI staff, warning that any privatisation will mean land owners no longer have guarantees the boundaries of their properties “are clear, beyond dispute and guaranteed by the State Government”.

“All that will be put to risk.”
