Joint Union Statement on TAFE Education Support Staff
The NSW Australian Education Union Ultimo Branch 1 and the Public Service Association/Community and Public Sector Union are united in their opposition to any derogation of quality education delivery or services to TAFE NSW students.
- TAFE Teachers must refuse to do any work not in their position description and not part of their teaching duties.
- TAFE Teachers must refuse to do any and all duties or work normally undertaken or performed by TAFE Education Support Staff.
- TAFE Teachers must report any directions or requests by TAFE management to teaching staff that would mean teachers or students performing the duties of TAFE Education Support Staff to your local TF/AEU workplace delegate or union organiser.
- TAFE Teachers and TAFE Education Support Staff will refuse any attempt by TAFE management to cut the number of teachers or education support staff to classes unless proper prior consultation has occurred with both the NSWTF/AEU and PSA/CPSU.
- TAFE Education Support Staff will report any directions or requests by TAFE management to education support staff that would mean either teachers or students performing the duties of TAFE Education Support Staff to your local PSA/CPSU workplace delegate or union organiser.
Any attempt to run classes without adequate supervision is putting the lives of staff and students at risk.
Any attempt to run classes without the proper maintenance of tools and equipment is putting the lives of staff and students at risk.
Any attempt to run classes without the proper preparation and clean-up of workshops, laboratories and workplaces is putting the lives of staff and students at risk.
