NSW juvenile justice staff ordered to work – Canberra Times 09/06/2019
Juvenile justice workers who stopped work in at least three NSW centres following “an escalating cycle of assaults” have been ordered back to work.
Troy Wright from the Public Service Association on Sunday said staff at Orana, Cobham and Riverina juvenile justice centres had stopped work under work health and safety laws.
He said two members had in recent days been taken to hospital after being assaulted.
“They’re not taking industrial action, they have ceased work under work health and safety laws because their job has become inherently unsafe,” Mr Wright told reporters in Sydney.
