Human Resources

Redeployment

Staff who are waiting on letters should get them as the centre’s PBCAP is close to finalisation. We understand members are feeling anxious about their placement but understand that we are working with CSNSW to get this process happening as soon as possible.

Filling ongoing vacancies

There are several centres that have large amounts of vacancies that need to be filled as it is becoming dangerous. The staff from affected centres that require redeployment have not put these centres in any of their preferences.

This means CSNSW wants to start filling the vacancies through the Workforce principles.

This will either be from transfers or casual to permanent.

The main centres affected are country locations:

  • Macquarie CC
  • Bathurst CC
  • Wellington CC
  • Mid North Coast CC

Casual to Permanent Talent Pool

CSNSW has sent out confirmation emails to staff who applied for the advertisement for casual to permanent custodial statewide. If you applied but have not received a confirmation email, send an email to asking for confirmation of your application.

Operational Scheduling Unit

The POVB executive has had several meetings with the OSU on issues related to cyclic rostering.

OSU management is working on combining the cyclic roster rules and the rostering principles. There will then be consultation on any of the changes and the POVB Executive will communicate, in a bulletin, any issues or concerns.

Firearms and Tactical Meeting

These meetings have not convened due to COVID-19 and the restrictions around meetings. Now that restrictions are easing, these meetings will start taking place every two months again.

At the recent meeting the following issues were discussed:

  • Firearm Reaccreditation
  • Hospital Escorts – equipment on HEs, protocols that are to take place on HEs, risk assessments for staffing.
  • Section 33 pilot
  • Soft Restraints
  • Chemical Munitions
  • Less lethal Equipment
  • Loadbearing Vests for MEU, CESU and IATs

As information comes out of these meetings, we will put it out in a bulletin.
