PSA to comment on Goulburn Correctional Complex industrial action following spate of inmate violence

Background:
Since a judge’s decision to reverse Bassam Hamzy’s 20-month sentence extension for bashing a Goulburn Supermax prison officer in 2017, Goulburn correctional officers have suffered increased violence this week, including:

• An officer hospitalised on Friday morning following a violent assault
• An officer attacked, including with urine and faeces on Thursday

Two officers attacked on Sunday, with one needing eight stitches above his eye
