PSA Industrial Bulletin: Audit Office of NSW restructure of Corporate Experience and Strategy Branch

PSA has been advised on 18 May 2026 of a restructure proposal for the Corporate Experience and Strategy Branch (CES) at the Audit Office of NSW. All impacted staff have received a copy of the change management plan. PSA is able to share documents to members if required.
Summary of Changes
The proposed changes involve a reallocation of functions and related reporting lines within the CES branch (impacting the Operations & Engagement and Strategy & Innovation teams) with no reduction in roles or changes to overall headcount.
Communications and Engagement functions
- Chief of Staff to Auditor-General (COS AG) to retain corporate communications and engagement. Reporting line remain to Executive Director CES, with a dotted line to the Auditor-General (A-G) to directly support the A-G in matters of stakeholder engagement and communication. Role is referred to as both Chief of Staff (external focus) and/or Director of Communications and Engagement (internal focus). Two direct reports are Communications Manager and Executive Officer. Headcount of 4 people.
- Update the ‘Communications Manager – Corporate’ title to ‘Communications Manager’.
Strategy and Operations functions
- Director of Strategy and Innovation to retain strategy and innovation (currently seconded to SACD), with production and workplace experience functions added to the portfolio.
Title updated to ‘Director of Strategy and Operations’. Reporting line remains to Executive Director CES. Three direct reports are ‘Innovation Lead’, ‘Production Manager’ and ‘Strategy and Operations Manager ‘. Headcount of 10 people.
- Update the ‘Communications Manager – Production’ title to ‘Production Manager’
- Update the ‘Strategy and Change Business Partner’ title to ‘Strategy and Operations Manager’ title and assign Workplace Experience Specialist as a direct report.
- Update the ‘Senior Business Support Officer’ title and role description to ‘Production Specialist’ – same grading (Corporate Admin 4).
- Update the ‘Business Support Officer’ title and role description to ‘Production Specialist – regraded from Corp Admin 3 to Corp Admin 4 with a comparative assessment for current incumbents which will involve a minimum of three capability assessments (one of which must be an interview) and conducted by a panel of at least two people.
Executive Assistant (EA) functions
- Change the reporting line for the EA to the Executive Director CES/QIP from the Executive Officer to the Executive Director CES to still service the ED CES and ED QIP
- Change the reporting line for the EA to the A-G/DA-G from the Executive Officer to the Executive Director CES to service the DA-G only
