Disability workers take on our new Premier over privatisation

On Tuesday your public sector colleagues in disability took action against the privatisation of the services they provide. The decision to take this action was difficult for members to make and comes after years of genuine attempts by the PSA to negotiate with a government unwilling to listen or protect its own staff.

We all know that quality conditions of employment are the bedrock of quality services, and when those services are for people with disabilities, it is even more paramount.

That is why so many PSA members working in disability right across NSW stood up on Valentine’s Day and called on Premier Berejiklian to show some courage, have a heart and keep disability services public.

Rallies go ahead through rain and blistering heat

Members rallied and held meetings right across NSW in Albury, Tamworth, Bathurst, Lismore, Forster, Goulburn and Dubbo and countless other local actions. Here in Sydney the pouring rain didn’t stop more than a thousand members taking to the streets, completely shutting down King Street as we marched on Parliament House.
