Safework bulletin – May 2 2017 (PDF Version)

The PSA and your Vocation Group delegates recently raised concerns with management regarding the collaborative regulatory services projects, particularly the tree work, remote service stations and medium-rise construction.

The concerns for the particular projects revolve around consultation, privacy concerns, powers used under differing legislations, training requirements and confusion of the general public in regards to the role of the safety regulator.

Management responded to these concerns by setting up the CRP Inspector Practice Reference Group. This group; with representatives from the PSA, VG executive, CRP team and SafeWork management; will meet monthly to discuss and resolve issues with the current projects as well as to identify and/or address any SafeWork inspector practice issues arising from the CRP initiative.

This mechanism will allow for consultation with members as management rolls out further collaborative projects.

With a seat at the table your union will have formal opportunities to:

Provide input and advice to inspector practice issues arising from the collaborative regulatory services program.

Inform new joint program initiatives

Identify and address any inspector issues arising from the CRP initiatives.

Your Vocation Group will keep you informed of the outcomes of the Practice Group meetings and will regularly request member input and advice to ensure your concerns are addressed.
