School Psychologists – PSA will continue negotiations with the Department of Education

School Psychologists – PSA will continue negotiations with the Department of Education - December 2020 (pdf version)

Thank you to those of you able to attend the PSA members meeting 4 November.  Following discussions at that meeting the PSA wrote to the Department of Education about the Professional Practice Framework.   We thank you for your detailed feedback which enabled us to advance the issues that matter most to you.

You can access a summary of the matters raised by the PSA with the Department HERE.

The PSA has received a response from the Department which provided some assurances around the role description but failed to adequately address all the issues of concern.

Members can be assured that the PSA will continue to represent your industrial rights and conditions as we move into the new year and continue our negotiations with the Department.

The PSA will prioritise the negotiation of a specific industrial instrument for school psychologists.  The union will also be making sure that the Department does not impose onerous requirements on you over and above the conditions of registration required by the Psychology Board of Australia.

We will arrange a members’ meeting in early 2021 to report back further detail to members.

Have a safe and happy holiday period

PSA staff and the Executive of the union wish everyone a safe and happy holiday period.
