Hello Members,

The PSA is holding a holding a one-day training session for members on the “Role of the Delegate” in Albury on 16 November 2016, and you are invited to attend.

What is the Role of the Delegate course about?

This course discusses the role of the delegate and is for any member who wants to play an active part in their union. It covers: what delegates do, delegate protections, organising skills, recruitment, working with issues, union values, and how to get more involved and encourage others to be more involved. There is ample time for discussion.

As numbers are limited, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible by HERE and filling out the form.

When you register online we will send you a letter to enable you to access trade union training leave under your relevant Award or Enterprise Agreement. Lunch will be provided on the day and reasonable travel costs paid.

Central West Community Union Alliance are launching their campaign for the Orange by-election.

When: Saturday 29 October, 12 midday
Where: Robertson Park Rotunda, Orange

Speakers include:

At 1pm proceed from Robertson Park Rotunda to outside Scott Barrett’s Electoral Office in the
top block of Summer Street between Anson and Sale Streets for a rally and street stall.

The NSW Government is undertaking a mass privatisation by stealth, with details on how they will affect the people of NSW shrouded in secrecy.

Members across Family and Community Services know how hard it is fighting cruel and sneaky privatisations such as the complete dismantling of ADHC and the failed privatisation of Out of Home Care.

Now it is time to step up and band together with PSA members from across the union and make a stand.

The PSA is encouraging all members to attend a protest on Wednesday 21 September to call on the NSW Government to Stop the Secret Sell Off!

The PSA will have guest speakers from ADHC, LPI, Sport and Recreation, TAFE, Housing and more addressing the crowd and calling on the NSW Government to Stop the Secret Sell Off!

Your union, the PSA, will also be demanding the Baird Government debate the more than twenty five thousand signature petition they have ignored in their rush to secretly sell off NSW public services.

  1. protect our valuable public services from privatisation; and
  2. introduce “follow the money” laws for financial scrutiny and accountability.

The PSA took the fight to defend public services from privatisation direct to the Premier on 18 July 2016.

Members met at the Ferry Wharf in Manly and then marched to Mike Baird’s office.

PSA News to members in the Federal seat of Robertson

Dear members,

Tomorrow’s Federal Election is an important day for our union.

If you support the idea of a well-resourced universal healthcare system and a properly funded education system then come and help us out this Saturday.

Unions NSW is calling for volunteers to help defend public services. Volunteers will hand out at polling booths, telling people to “Put the Liberals last” at the following places:

Niagara Park Public School

8am-11:30am (2 Volunteers needed)

11:30am-2:30pm (2 volunteers needed

2:30pm-6:00pm (2volunteers needed)

11:30am-2:30pm (1 volunteer needed)

The Federal election on 2 July is not far away. Join other union members in calling people in the marginal seats that will decide the election and remind them what the Liberals have done, and plan to do to schools, hospitals and Medicare. It’s also an opportunity to talk about the importance of public services.
