During these difficult times the PSA is still here to support its members. If you have any questions or concerns please contact your local delegate, PSA industrial staff or the PSA Member Support Centre on 1300 772 679. Irrespective of the constraints of the lockdown the PSA is available to lend its resources and support to its members.
Casual Keepers pay issues continue
The PSA continues the fight to ensure Casual Keepers at Taronga Zoo are paid at the rate that they deserve. Too many casuals are currently being paid at the Trainee Keeper Level 1 grade whilst performing duties and functions of the Trade and Keeper levels.
The PSA has written to Taronga demanding that this longstanding practice be rectified and that staff are paid the correct rate. The PSA has stated that if Taronga fails to address this issue we will have no hesitation in bringing this matter to the Industrial Relations Commission. The PSA is currently awaiting Taronga’s response and will provide an update shortly after.
The PSA would also like to remind our members that if your manager or supervisor asks you to attend a meeting to first ask what the meeting is about. If the meeting is regarding your work performance please ensure you have a support person by contacting your local delegates or the PSA.
These are obviously difficult times for all of New South Wales and the PSA will continue to fight for our members in the New South Wales public service. It has never been more important to be a part of your union, so please encourage your colleagues to join at www.psa.asn.au/join
