On 8 June 2022 the PSA will be taking a 24-hour state-wide strike and we need you.
Last week, the PSA held its Annual Conference, in which delegates and members overwhelmingly supported the PSA’s campaign to end the wages cap and its subsequent ultimatum to the Perrottet Government: give our members a fair pay rise or they will take part in a state-wide Day of Action.
As a result, a motion was passed endorsing a state-wide 24-hour stop work on Wednesday 8 June 2022, for all members working across the NSW Public Sector.
Your Transport Departmental Committee Delegates have also endorsed this action.
The continued refusal of the Perrotett Government to rescind the wages cap has left the PSA little option but to take this extraordinary action. We have in vain attempted to negotiate an Award that will ensure your real wages do not go backwards. Though inflation is currently running at 5.1 per cent we are repeatedly told by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) that, due to the wages cap, it does not have authority offer anything that will result in employee-related costs rising above the 2.5 per cent unless there are cost-saving measures.
Further, nor can the NSW Industrial Relations Commission approve an Award which has employee related costs rising above 2.5 per cent.
We are one month out from when the TfNSW and RMS Awards expire. However, the Perrotett Government has not engaged with the PSA on the wages cap. As a result, the offer from TfNSW remains to be a wage rise of 2.5 per cent, including superannuation. The offer fails to recognise that you have kept this state running. It is therefore essential that all members take part in this action and forfeit a day’s wages to secure a fair pay rise that keeps up with the rapidly increasing cost of living.
Day of action : What is Happening?
On Wednesday 8 June 2022, PSA members at TfNSW will stop work and take a stand together with the rest of the PSA membership and demand the Perrottet Government get rid of the wages cap. All PSA members across TfNSW are directed to support the 24-hour stop work on Wednesday 8 June 2022.
PSA members will be rallying in Hyde Park Sydney before marching to Macquarie Street to make our claim heard. If you are in a regional location you find a meeting place HERE.
