Your pay rise: an update

Following the acceptance of the salaries offer, and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Government, the PSA has been working with Government to negotiate the finer details of the agreement and finalise the Awards. The Government filed the joint applications in the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) and the Salaries Awards and other awards were made yesterday 19 November 2024 by the Vice President of the IRC.

The General Secretary, Stewart Little, spoke to the Government and confirmed that Agencies were notified of the new salaries rates at the time members voted for the salaries offer, and once the Awards are made, they would be able to pay the increases quickly.

The Government gave a commitment in the IRC yesterday that arrangements had been made for the back payments and salary increases to be paid this year.

There has been significant concern regarding the outsourcing of payroll in some areas to a third party provider, Gov Connect, but this should not affect payments being made before Christmas.

The PSA has also raised the issue of Leave Loading payments falling due for many in the first pay period of December. For most members, the two pay dates in December are 5 and 19 December but we advise you to check with your local payroll contacts for exact information for your area.

The Government has confirmed that to the extent possible back pay will be made in a separate pay run to Leave Loading where applicable.

The PSA will be pursuing the issue of outsourcing of payroll with the Government in the New Year.
