Australian Museum – Merry Christmas from the PSA
Australian Museum – Merry Christmas – Dec 2016 (PDF version)
Merry Christmas
The PSA wishes a Merry Christmas to all members at the Australian Museum. We understand that 2016 has been a particularly difficult year for you. Yet it is with the spirit of unity, community and hope that we say goodbye to 2016 and look forward to a brighter 2017.
The Christmas closedown and you
There has been some incorrect information distributed by Museum management about your rights during the Christmas closedown. You cannot be forced to take leave on days which are not public holidays and public service holidays. This year, the holiday dates are the 25, 26, 27 and 28 December and 1 and 2 January 2017. Contrary to arguments made by Museum management, the NSW Government encourages, but does not require, all non-frontline worksites to shut down over the Christmas to New Year period. You can only be directed to take leave during the Christmas closedown if you have an excess leave balance.

2017
In 2017, the PSA will be a presence and a force at the Australian Museum. We are providing members with a wide variety of training opportunities and bringing in a team structure at the PSA that will give you the industrial and campaigning support which you deserve. We intend for this new structure to provide the bedrock from which to expand and empower the union at the Museum.
But the core of our power as a union will always be you. Through supporting each other and standing together, you can make a real difference to your workplace and to the arts and culture of NSW. We look forward to working with you in 2017.
If you have any questions or need the support of your union, please contact the PSA’s Member Support Centre on 1300 772 679.
