Staff of the After Hours Response Team (AHRT) have been left no clearer regarding the Department’s unilateral changes to the team’s operational arrangements, despite DCJ assurances in the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) that further detailed information would be would be made available at a meeting with staff on Friday night.
Last Monday staff of the AHRT held a snap two-hour stop work meeting to protest chronic overwork, arbitrary staff suspensions and unreasonable workplace directives .lick on the link to read our media release and previous bulletin.
On Tuesday afternoon the IRC convened an urgent conference at the request of the Department, with:
- DCJ confirming on record that it did not plan to disband the AHRT; and
- the parties agreeing to further meetings in an effort to resolve the dispute.
While representatives from the PSA and DCJ will meet again tomorrow afternoon, the union remains disappointed the Department has so far been unable to provide any real evidence to support its action, despite AHRT staff expressing a willingness to engage in solution focused discussions.
The parties are due back in the IRC on 9 April and have been granted leave to apply at short notice should they wish.
For further information call the union on 1300 772 679 and ask to speak to a member of our Community Services Team.
