Crown Solicitor’s Office: End-of-year update

In the new year we will continue to pursue a Flexible Working Hours Award which will ensure that members at the Crown Solicitor’s Office (CSO) will be appropriately compensated for all hours they have worked. In particular, hours which may be forfeited flex leave. To review this work, please read our previous bulletin.

The PSA legal team is looking into the issue of staff at the CSO forfeiting flex. We seek your assistance in gathering further information from all impacted CSO staff.

 To assist the PSA on this issue, we ask for all CSO staff to take the following steps:

  1. Please download from Justice SAP (JSAP) copies of your flex sheets from June 2023 (or as early as you can access) onwards. Once you have downloaded your historical flex sheets, please ensure to keep these records. The PSA understands that CSO staff are able to download copies of their own flex sheets from JSAP from as early as June 2023.
  1. Please keep accurate records of your actual time worked (for example, if JSAP is not allowing you to record times outside the flex bandwidth, you will need to keep a separate record reflecting your actual hours worked and where possible include notations about what matters these hours relate to and/or why the work was being performed at a time outside of bandwidth).
  1. If you can provide the PSA Legal Services team with information on any of the following , please send an email to the PSA Legal Services inbox at :
  1. how much flex you have forfeited in the respective settlement periods and if there have been periods of excessive forfeiture, any context about why this happened i.e. complex or involved matters, short staffing in your team etc.;
  2. instances where you were about to forfeit flex and you had your request for flex leave rejected; or
  3. requested to be paid overtime and this was rejected or accepted.

We note that the information provided to this Legal Service inbox is for the purposes of collating information only. If you have specific concerns about your entitlements or personal circumstances, please continue to contact the Member Support Centre or Industrial Officers/delegates in the first instance.

PSA Delegates and Industrial staff wish you a safe and restful holiday break.
