Jenolan Caves Reserve Trust Salaries Award Discrepancies & 2024 Closure

The Public Service Association (PSA) has requested a meeting with senior executives to discuss the upcoming closure period of the Jenolan Caves. The closure was announced due to Transport for NSWs plan to remediate the 2 Mile (Edith Road), commencing no earlier than 1 February 2024.

Members will be aware that in the wake of the last restructuring, which introduced PT (Part-Time) roles, there are significant concerns regarding how these roles align with the Jenolan Caves Reserve Trust (JCRT) Salaries Award. PT employees are compensated on a pro rata basis of an annualised salary but are expected to fulfill the full quota of weekends and public holidays as full-time staff.

A concern raised by members, which the PSA shares, is that this discrepancy is leading to potential underpayment issues for our PT members. As such, the PSA is seeking legal advice on the interpretation of the JCRT Award.

On behalf of the PSA, we extend a heartfelt thank you for your unwavering dedication and hard work throughout this year as members of the union and the NSW Public Service. Your commitment has been instrumental in our collective efforts. As the year draws to a close, we wish each of you a happy and safe holiday season!
