We want to remind members who are affected by COVID-19 and/or the floods there are special leave arrangements in place. Members may be able to access the following leave types:
Contracting COVID-19
Where you have contracted COVID – 19 you can utilise your available sick leave (or other available leave). If you have run out of sick leave you may apply for special sick leave.
Caring for a family member & Self Isolation
Moving forward, the 20 days COVID special leave is still operative. If you are unable to work due to isolation, caring for a family member, transport disruption, or caring for a family member due to closure of schools or caring facilities you can continue to access the 20 days of COVID special leave.
If you have utilised all your 20 days of COVID special leave, please contact your manager.
Floods
If you have been affected by the floods, for example road closure, public transport not working, or evacuated, and are unable to make alternative arrangements for work you are able to access FACS leave in accordance with:
- clause 30.1(d) of the Roads and Maritime Services Consolidated Salaried Award 2019; or
- clause 22.4 (b)(iv) of the Transport for New South Wales and Sydney Metro Salaries and Conditions of Employment Award 2021.
If you have no available FACS leave, please contact her manager as Special Leave may be granted.
Where the workplace is not operational due to weather damage, TfNSW is going to take steps to provide alternative workplace accommodation or flexible working arrangements. Where it is unable to implemented TfNSW can approve special leave.
Emergency Service Volunteers
If you are a volunteer for an emergency service, you are entitled to special leave for time you are away from work volunteering. special leave is available in accordance with:
- clause 34.1(l) of the Roads and Maritime Services Consolidated Salaried Award 2019; or
- clause 22.19 (k) of the Transport for New South Wales and Sydney Metro Salaries and Conditions of Employment Award 2021.
