University of Sydney: Enterprise Bargaining update

University of Sydney: Enterprise Bargaining update

  23 April 2026

The first set of substantive bargaining meetings with the University of Sydney have taken place, commencing on Tuesday April 14 2026.

Your union has prosecuted improvements to accessing emergency services leave and access to family and domestic violence leave for casual staff. We have also had productive discussions around how staff can better access time off to undertake volunteer community work, noting that this is of mutual benefit to staff wanting to contribute to causes of importance to them but also to the university as an organisation with clear values aligned with contributing to a better world.

We will understand the university’s response to our leave claims in the next meeting and will continue discussing other forms of leave including parental leave, union delegate and training leave, as well as reproductive health leave.

Parties will next meet on 5 May and your union will continue to provide updates on the bargaining process and your claims.

We encourage all members to provide any feedback or raise any issues regarding bargaining or our log of claims directly with your delegates or bargaining team.
