Update for Community Corrections members: Workplace Management Tool

On Thursday 27 February 2025, the PSA attended the Community Corrections Joint Consultative Committee Meeting (JCC). It was chaired by Ellen McCarroll, A/Assistant Commissioner Community Corrections, and included Community Corrections Executives and experts to discuss important topics in Community Corrections.

The PSA understands the Workplace Management Tool (WMT) is by far the most widely and deeply felt industrial issue at this time. Over the past months the PSA has advocated strongly for changes and adjustments to be made to the tool.

Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) has said the PSA’s request for a WMT functionality adjustment cannot be made because the tool is now in “Live Mode”. The PSA understands CSNSW will not make further changes to the current WMT.

Furthermore, CSNSW has not listened to PSA members’ concerns that WMT requires suitable adjustments to streamline processes, improve functionality, reduce duplication and manual handling of non-prescribed user applications to workload and schedules on the WMT.

The PSA supports our members’ view that the WMT is not fit for purpose in its current form. It is not able to manage the smooth and efficient undertaking of work tasks and functions to meet the needs of Community Corrections employees.

The PSA is acutely aware of the serious potential impacts the WMT is having on our members and the compounding effects this will have on their performance, workloads, health, safety and wellbeing, and their positive work experience.

As such, the PSA provides the following industrial advice to members:

  1. Members strictly adhere to the advice provided by CSNSW at the JCC: “That employees cease engaging or undertaking work, tasks or duties or un-prescribed functions that are not part of the WMT dashboard Tool.” This includes drafting, manufacturing and use of manual spreadsheets, manual diaries or photocopied materials.
  2. Members are not to undertake unpaid work and unprescribed tasks not contained in their role description associated with the WMT. Nor should managers direct members to undertake work, function or tasks outside of the WMT due to potential detrimental impacts on health, safety, welfare and performance. This includes Admin Clerical staff being asked to undertake manual spreadsheets or other unprescribed tasks not in their role description.
  3. Members experiencing issues such workload stress and pressure should file Safety Suite MyConfidential or follow the agency’s complaint grievance policy and guidelines. They may also contact the PSA Member Support Centre (MSC) on 1800 772 679 or at  and quote case number C10001893.
  4. Members are encouraged to complete our members’ survey that will be distributed in the next few weeks. The survey outcomes will provide complete data information on the effects of WMT to CSNSW.

The PSA is here to provide support and assistance to members affected by the WMT issue. Please refer to your workplace delegates in the first instance or contact the MSC.
