Award Negotiations
The current SASS Crown Employees award expires in July 2027. The PSA is committed to ongoing award discussions with the Department of Education.
Major points of interest include:
- Fixing the Formula: It is a strongly held view by the Schools Departmental Committee that if the staffing formula was adjusted in line with the actual needs of schools, increasing the SAS staffing, this would go a long way to addressing most issues faced by School Administrative and Support Staff (SASS), especially in regard to an ever increasing workload.
- Professional Learning: The PSA continues to advocate for more face to face and skills-based training for SASS. We are pleased to see our advocacy has led to several face to face conferences for SASS this year. Keep you eye out for the SLSO conferences in Term 4.
- Safer Schools: Addressing and supporting members with violence in schools.
- Pathways to Permanency: The PSA continues to advocate for a genuine and ongoing pathway to permanency for long term temporary SASS not just one of conversion projects.
