Proposed transition from Active Overnight Shifts to Sleepovers
Life Without Barriers is commencing consultation regarding a proposed change to overnight support arrangements at the 110 Coward Street, Rosebery site.
Life Without Barriers has advised that one resident will be transitioning to Hayes Road. This transition will result in a reduction in funding available to the Coward Street service.
The three residents who remain at Coward Street have individualised funding arrangements; however, their current funding does not support the continuation of an active overnight shift model.
Life Without Barriers is proposing to transition from the current active overnight shift model to sleepovers at 110 Coward Street.
The proposed changes will impact:
- Eight staff
- A reduction of approximately 171 hours across the current roster
Consultation commences 10 July 2026 and ends 15 July 2026; however, members have been advised that feedback provided after this date will also be considered.
Consultation provides impacted members with an opportunity to provide feedback, raise concerns, and contribute to discussions regarding the proposed changes before any final decisions are made.
The proposed commencement date for the new arrangements is 17 August 2026
Life Without Barriers has advised that available redeployment opportunities within the Sydney District will be explored for impacted members.
CPSU NSW encourages members to provide feedback if they have concerns regarding:
- Hours offered compared with their current contracted hours;
- The suitability of alternative roles or locations;
- Personal circumstances, including caring responsibilities, that may affect their ability to work sleepovers; or
- Any other concerns regarding proposed roster arrangements.
