Consultation over Governance team roles

On 23 April the PSA received advice that the Museums of History NSW (MHNSW) has commenced consultation with impacted Governance team staff regarding a number of roles.

MHNSW proposes to realign responsibilities and transfer roles from the Governance Team, This is in order to:

  1. Create a new team structure with two streams: Government Relations and Engagement; and, Performance, Compliance and Risk, reporting to the Chief of Staff. Update role descriptions of the existing 2 x 9/10 and 2 x 5/6 roles to reflect the two stream responsibilities. Roles are currently held by ongoing staff.
  1. Transfer the Procurement and Contracts Advisor, Clerk Grade 5/6, to the Finance Team, operating under the Chief Operating Officer. Role currently vacant.
  1. Transfer the Records and Information Analyst, Clerk Grade 5/6, to ICT. Role currently vacant.

MHNSW advises there is an equal number of roles and at the same grade. The change is to the responsibilities, always within this team but distributed differently. MHNSW is taking into consideration preferences and feedback.

If two team members are interested in the same role, an internal recruitment process will occur. The PSA has received copies of the Change Management Plan, the proposed organisational structure and the role descriptions.

MHNSW has had meetings with affected staff to discuss the proposal. It had proposed a consultation period, ending close of business 28 April 2025, as staff were informed from 17April 2025. As the PSA only received this advice by email on the 23 April, a request was made for an extension for consultation from the PSA. This has been agreed to by MHNSW.

The PSA is requesting feedback from affected members about this proposal by close of business 5 May 2025.  Please contact the PSA Member Support Centre on 1800 772 679 or  quote Case ID C10005701.
