PSA backs Labor’s mandatory blood testing calls | ||
The following can be attributed to Stewart Little, General Secretary of the Public Service Association.
“The Public Service Association supports NSW Labor’s announcement to introduce a bill into NSW Parliament for mandatory blood testing, in particular for our members in NSW Corrective Services and Youth Justice. We encourage the government to implement this important reform. “The unfortunate reality is that PSA’s frontline members working across the public service are exposed to violence in their daily duties. “This is a risk of their jobs, but it’s also fair that workers have an expectation that every effort is made to reduce stress and anxiety in the event they’re attacked and exposed to possible infection. “There needs to be an evidence-based policy in place that offers peace of mind to frontline officers. “The Emergency Service Coalition which includes PSA, NSW Police Association, Health Services Union and the Fire Brigade Employees’ Union all agree that members’ safety has to be the priority.” Stewart Little 0434 062 079 |
